JUST LIKE ME, NEVER TO LET AN ATTACK ON GUN RIGHTS GO UNANSWERED.

Another letter to the editor from me to the Tribune.

I had to take exception to your article on January 17th called "Raise the firearms card fee." Out of all the failed points they tried to make, the writer failed to make note of a number of things in this article.

They insist that Governor Blagojevich was correct for wanting to raise the price of the FOID because it's unfair to other licenses we buy. First of all, if not for the Governor's poor spending, like a generous amount of taxes donated to rebuild a church, there would never have been any reason to raise any licensing fees at all in this state as long as he was in office. Besides, nothing else we need to be licensed for is protected by the U.S. Constitution. Gun ownership is.

They also said that it would help the states rising debts. Again, you can blame the Governor himself for the needless expenses of the state government that he is already forcing the taxpayers to pay for and, tragically, the retired people.

Perhaps the Governor needs to stop being so free with our money instead of raiding people's retirements and forcing the taxpayers, and law-abiding gun owners, to pay for his mistakes.

Wayne Smith

The real reason that the Governor has had to raise the price of living in this state on the taxpayers is because he's been listening to these clowns, and every other puppet of Daley, for too long.

Well, where is our Gun Lobby aka ISRA/NRA when it comes to ridding ourselves of our FOID card? Where are OUR alleged Republican leadership when it comes smaller government? I know for a FACT that getting rid of the FOID card let's us get rid of 17 ISP jobs!

Oh, we mustn't disturb the "Status Quo" because then law enforcement won't support us. Uh huh. Yeah. Right.

Law enforcement in this state doesn't amount to much support as it is.
